Music Through the Ages: From Reformation to Reconciliation

Join us for an evening of glorious music at St. Mary’s Basilica as we commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with our Lutheran brothers and sisters. The Choirs of St. Mary’s Basilica and Grace Lutheran Church will perform alongside Organists Gordon Stevenson, Simon Pick and Laura Cutler. The evening will include the music of many of the great Reformation-era Composers such as Bach, Bruhns, Buxtehude, Palestrina & Byrd, and will celebrate our common heritage through liturgical music.

Music through the Ages is a celebration of the joint document published by The Pontifical Counsel for Promoting Christian Unity (The Vatican) and the Lutheran World Federation.  You can download the joint document here.

Reformation Oktoberfest Open House

Celebrate 500 years of Reformation and 100 years of Grace in the City.

Grace Lutheran Church invites our sister churches and ministry partners to a Reformation Oktoberfest Open House.

Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church on October 31, 1517. Grace is hosting an all-out party to celebrate 500 years of living Lutheran. As we gather in fellowship, we honor our German and Lutheran heritage and throw in a few modern twists.

Rainbows Festival - Phoenix Pride

Phoenix Pride is the proud producer of the “Arizona’s Greatest Street Fair”, the Rainbows Festival. The annual Rainbows Festival & Street Fair is a celebration of the diversity of the LGBTQ community. The event is located in historic Heritage Square Park in Downtown Phoenix. Each year, the Rainbows Festival draws a crowd of over 25,000 friends, families and allies. Rainbows Festival is the 2nd largest LGBTQ event in the state of Arizona, only 2nd to the Phoenix Pride Festival.

The annual Rainbows Festival is a free event open to the public. It host nearly 150 exhibitors and sponsors throughout the two-day event and features 2 stages filled with entertainment throughout the weekend.

Life Line Screening

Life Line Screening®, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, will offer their affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Grace Lutheran Church on 9/28/2016. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. The Phoenix Police Museum is hosting the 3rd Annual 24-hour Phoenix Police Prayer Watch.  We will be praying for our Law Enforcement Officers, their families and professional staff.  Gathering begins on August 26th at 6:00 pm with Corporate Prayer and Worship in the Phoenix City Hall Atrium (200 W. Washington) and is concluding on August 27th at 6:00 PM.  The Phoenix Police Museum is located at the Historic City Hall (200 W. Jefferson).

All programming has a youth theme.

Volunteers from the Grace community are needed to help with the kids attending the picnic—childcare for the youngest members, and help with games for the older kids. Volunteers can stay for as long or as little time as they desire. Volunteers 13 years and older are welcome! Teens need to accompany an adult to volunteer.

On Friday, March 4 in a unique open forum, Alberto Ríos will read selections from his many published works and share stories of his Chicano heritage, reflections of a life that began in Nogales, Arizona.
