We don’t know what to make of the transfiguration. We may appreciate Jesus’ glory and splendor and majesty in some faraway intellectual way, but when it really comes right down to it, what does the transfiguration have to do with our lives?

The angel announced to the shepherds good news of great joy, the birth of our savior Jesus, but the angel’s good news began with: do not be afraid. Where we are right now, today, we might be afraid. But what we celebrate on Christmas is God’s Love born into our world. Jesus is Love incarnate, and perfect Love casts out fear.
Christmas Caroling
Sunday, December 13, 12:30 pm
Calling all carolers! We will be sharing the joy and music of the Advent and Christmas seasons with some of our homebound members and other community members who are shut in. We will be carpooling, so all are welcome. Singing in tune is not required…only a joyous heart! We will gather for snacks following the caroling in Hope Hall.
Christmas Gift Bag Service Project
People of all ages and especially youth: let's bless our community members this Christmas! Come and help put together Christmas gift bags for our pancake breakfast guests on Friday, December 18 at 6:00 pm. We will be joined by youth and adults from All Saints Lutheran Chruch and will enjoy pizza, a devotion, and a rousing game of I Sit, along with other games.
Parking lot fundraiser
Youth: we will be attending the parking lot for the Phoenix Festival of the Arts. Festival times for which we will be attending the parking lot are Friday, 12-6 pm and Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm. All proceeds will help us go on next summer's mission trip! Please let Pastor Sarah know what times you will be able to help.

Sermon: November 29, 2015
Advent is the time when we rejoice that God delivers on God’s promises, that in the midst of heartbreak and devastation, that from violence and broken relationships, from death and despair, justice and righteousness, salvation and safety surely spring up. So, we really can trust in God, let go of our fear, and live with hope.
